Local attractions

The last battle of the English Civil War took place here, and the city also has historic ties with the great British composer Edward Elgar.

The city also boasts quaint shops and high-quality restaurants.

Worcester has an excellent racecourse and cricket club, both with fixtures throughout the summer.

The River Severn is the largest river in England, and it cuts right through the city – perfect for rowing and summer boat trips. The source, in Plynlimon (Wales), and the mouth filter into the Bristol Channel. The combination of the river and cathedral can provide some fantastic photography opportunities.

The Malvern Hills can be seen from many parts of Worcester city. They incorporate fantastic geological and archaeological history, as well as providing outstanding views of the Worcestershire county and surrounding areas, along with great walks.

Local transport

There are two train stations, with regular services to Birmingham, Cheltenham and Gloucester, as well as various other localities.

There is a large bus station, with multiple services to surrounding towns and attractions.

Local taxis are also available.

Parking

Being in a pedestrianised area in the middle of town, the hotel does not provide on-site parking.

However, it is affiliated with Crowngate multistorey car park (postcode: WR1 3LX), just a four-minute walk from the hotel.

Guests should validate their car-parking ticket (they use numberplate recognition) by requesting an invoice on departure.

This will need to be taken to the Crowngate shopping centre’s management office, signposted on the way to the car park.

That office will then process the ticket for guests, so that they pay £6 for a 24-hour stay.
