The city of Ripon is located in North Yorkshire, on the River Ure. Ripon is a beautiful market town, founded over 1,300 years ago and steeped in history – famous as an old cathedral city, where monasteries have stood since the seventh century.
The old city of Ripon is filled with shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs, while also boasting many historical buildings and museums, including Ripon Cathedral, the Wakeman’s House, Studley Royal, Fountains Abbey and Ripon Spa Gardens, where a Victorian bandstand is set.
A market is held every Thursday on Ripon’s market square, next to its 300-year-old obelisk, where the hornblower will sound his horn at 9pm every night.
Ripon is wonderfully located in the heart of the countryside, so there is always plenty to do.
Ripon bus station is a five-minute walk from the hotel, with regular buses to Harrogate, Leeds and York. The closest train station is Harrogate.
There is limited car-parking available at the rear of the hotel. There is a short-stay car park on the market place, directly in front of the hotel. The nearest long-stay car park is the Sainsbury’s car park, at the rear of the hotel.
