Local attractions

West Somerset Railway opened in 1874 and is popular with all steam train enthusiasts. Dunster Castle lies up on a steep hill, called the Tor, and was a former motte-and-bailey castle. The castle is now run by the National Trust, and you can visit the castle and grounds. The South West Coast Path is the nation’s longest countryside walking trail.

Local transport

Buses run every 30 minutes to Taunton. There is an open-top bus to Lynton, Lynmouth and Ilfracombe which passes through the popular village of Porlock. There is a local taxi rank across from the hotel.

We have no car park on site, but there are some pay-and-display car parks close to the hotel, together with some free street parking during 5pm–9am.

The main bus and train station is at Taunton, from where you would need to catch the number 28 bus to Minehead. When you arrive in Minehead, get off at Clathers. Across the road to the right, you will see Wellington Square and the hotel is located here.
