There are 26 bedrooms, comprising double, king, twin and family rooms. All of the rooms are en suite and have Freeview television, tea- and coffee-making facilities as well as free refills from the coffee machines in the pub, a hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Breakfast is served 7am–noon, with the full food menu served until 11pm, seven days a week. We offer an extensive range of food and drinks in the Wetherspoon pub.

Local attractions
One of the main attractions in Newcastle Upon Tyne is St James’ Park, home to Newcastle United. The city is well known for its vibrant nightlife and many bars and restaurants, including Wetherspoon’s The Mile Castle pub and hotel. The area has several historical and listed buildings, with amazing architecture and culture – with the Theatre Royal being a highlight.
Local transport
The Mile Castle is 2 minutes’ walk from Newcastle train station, making it ideal for those travelling by rail. Newcastle has an extensive metro system for easy travel around the Tyne and Wear area.
Parking
The Mile Castle (postcode: NE1 5JE) is on the corner of Grainger Street and Westgate Road.
There are no parking facilities at the hotel; however, pay-and-display car parks are available for both short- and long-term stays.
The nearest pay-and-display car park, Newcastle Station Long Stay car park (postcode: NE1 5DG), has over 400 spaces and is accessible during 4am–11pm (vehicles can remain in the car park outside of these hours).
Alternatively, there are 16 pay-and-display parking spaces at NCP Newcastle St John Street (postcode: NE1 5JG) – two minutes’ walk from the hotel and accessible 24 hours a day.
There is no space in front of the hotel to drop off luggage; however, short-term luggage storage is available, subject to availability, before check-in and after check-out. On arrival, please speak to a team member at the main bar to be checked in. Alternatively, please use the intercom on the black metal gate (left of the pub’s main entrance) to page a hotel reception.
Directions
On arrival, to gain access to the hotel’s reception and to be checked in, please use the intercom to page a hotel receptionist either on the black metal gate (left of the pub’s main entrance) or on the front door of the hotel, which directly faces a bus stop. Alternatively, please speak to a member of the team at the main bar area.
If driving from any direction, follow the signs for Central Station long-stay car park. These will direct you either down to Westgate Road (where the Mile Castle is situated) or directly to Newcastle train station. The Central Station long-stay car park is adjacent to Newcastle train station and opposite The Mile Castle. There is no space in front of the hotel to drop of luggage; however, short-term luggage storage is available before check-in and after check-out subject to availability.
